Brueggen, Raymond B. 88 of Dayton, KY and most recently Florence, KY passed away April 25, 2012. Ray was born on April 12, 1924 in Hamilton, Ohio to John and Luella Brueggen. He was the beloved husband of Della Brueggen (nee Dorgan)and loving father of Gary Brueggen(Darlene) of Cary, NC, Greg Brueggen(Karen) of Ft. Collins, Colo., Lisa Veach(Paul) of Grand Haven, MI, Chris Brueggen(Peggy)of Alexandria, KY and Jayne Knox of Park city, UT. Ray is survived by his wife Del, 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren and his dear brother Edward. Ray and Del were married on November 8, 1947 in Newport KY. In addition to being a loving husband, father and grandfather, his career path included printer, owner of the Fruit Bowl in Erlanger, KY and dedicated servant to the Dayton Public School system. He was especially known for his strong work ethic, his smile and his quirky sense of humor. Ray was especially proud of his service in the Navy in WWII. He served on the USS Warrick at Iwo Jima and the Philippines. He was recently honored by the state of Alaska for his heroic service during the Aleutian campaign where US Naval forces defeated and expelled the Japanese from the islands of Attu and Kiska. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St Bernard’s Dayton, KY May 19, 2012 at 10am. This will be followed by a military honor guard and internment at St Stephens Cemetery. Memorial donations made be made to St Bernard’s Church.

    It saddens me of Ray’s passing. I wish his family well. Ray was my boss as I worked at The Fruit Bowl in Erlanger for a couple years. Had to be the greatest person in the world to work for. He would let me drive the panel truck to go to Dusing’s to get ice. I was not old enough to have a license yet ! Great man. I also new briefly of 2 sons; great family.
